Tom Cruise Earns Big at The Box Office For The First Time In 7yrs With ‘Oblivion’

It’s been a while since Tom Cruise last earned big at the box office on the opening weekend of his movie but his latest Sci-Fi film Oblivion which also stars Morgan Freeman, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Melissa Leo has changed all that. Oblivion opened in the US this weekend earning about $38.1 Million a figure not many movies released recently have come close to getting.
The last Tom Cruise movie to rake in big bucks was Mission Impossible 3 which was released 7 years ago to be precise. All other recent movies of the actor despite overall big earnings like Mission: Impossible IV – Ghost Protocol which earned over $600 Million started slow at the box office.
Oblivion which was only just released last week has got a budget of $120 Million and with this new feat at the US box office, it’s safe to say the movie has recouped its budget as Oblivion has made an estimated sum of $150 Million worldwide which would only grow given the noise surrounding this movie.
