Remember when R&B singer Miguel did a WWE ‘flying squirrel’ take down of a young fan during his performance at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards?
Well, he may have to pay a pretty penny to the injured fan now that the lawyers are involved.
Khyati Shah was standing at the front of the stage when Miguel leaped into the air and crash landed on her head, slamming her face forcefully into the stage.
Though she appeared unfazed afterwards — and even got the chance to meet Miguel — her lawyer, Vip Bhola, tells E! News that his client was “in shock” and “star struck,” and now she feels the pain from her worsening condition.
Bhola told E! News that Shah is being examined by doctors, and he isn’t sure when he will file the lawsuit. “We will determine that after we have feedback from medical providers,” he said.
During an on-camera interview with Shah after the mishap, Miguel called her his “new friend,” and promised he would make it up to her.
Later he tweeted, “got caught up in the moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay.” The tweet was deleted the next day.
Reality TV star Khloe Kardashian loves what she’s already heard of Kanye West’s controversial sixth studio album, Yeezus.
“I have heard some of his new music. I do love ‘New Slaves’,” she told MTV News.
During a recent appearance on Saturday Night Live, West previewed “New Slaves” and another controversial track, “Black Skinhead.”
Khloe’s older sister, Kim Kardashian, is knocked up by West. The baby is due sometime in August or September.
West pulled his new album from iTunes after one day, and an associate of his, Jean Touitou, sent out a tweet explaining that there would be no pre-orders of the album: “No pre order please purchase June 18.”
Meanwhile, insiders like Khloe are praising the project.
“I’ve heard one or two other songs. I don’t know the name ’cause his album isn’t complete, so I don’t know if they’ve made it onto the album. But I love Kanye as an artist; I always have,” she said. “I think he’s so talented and he is in every sense an artist. He’s so creative. I think he’s great.”
Hilary Grotewold was taking her 4-year-old son to pre-K when she stopped at a gas station to put air in a tire Thursday morning.
Grotewold said that was when a thief jumped into her SUV and took off on a wild ride with her son still buckled into his car seat.
The young mom’s worst nightmare occurred at the Racetrac station on Marietta Boulevard in northwest Atlanta just before 8 a.m. on Thursday.
“I was getting air in my tire and I felt the car start to move,” Grotewold told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “I thought I forgot to put it in park, and I realized it was going too fast for that, so when I looked up, there was someone in the driver’s seat and I realized it was being stolen.”
Without concern for her own safety, Grotewold sprang into action to save her son.
“I jumped on the roof and started yelling, ‘there’s a baby in the car, there’s a baby in the car,’” Grotewold told the AJC. “He lurched forward so I kind of fell off to the side, so I jumped onto the mirror and tried to hang on to that, and then I rolled off.”
The heartless car thief ignored Grotweold’s pleas and sped out of the gas station — with Grotewold giving chase on foot. “I chased him down the street and started yelling, ‘you have my baby, you have my baby.’”
Thankfully, the thief pulled into the parking lot of a nearby CVS pharmacy and abandoned the vehicle with the boy inside.
“Luckily, I think he just wanted my purse and my cell phone so he took all of that and ran off,” Grotewold said, adding that her son was safe, but “just really scared.”
Atlanta police described the suspect as a black male wearing a gray hat and carrying a gray backpack. He was last seen running east on Marietta Boulevard toward LaDawn Lane.
Grotewold was shaken but relived to have her son back. “When something like that happens to your baby, you just want him to be safe,” she said.
Be careful when you’re attending one of singer Rihanna’s concerts. If a representative from MAC asks you to try her ‘RiRi Woo’ lipstick, just say “no thanks.”
One fan, Starkeema Greenidge, 28, of Harlem, told the NY Daily News she tried the RiRi Woo lipstick at a MAC counter set up at a recent Rihanna concert. But 2 days later, the unlucky fan developed a cold sore on her lips which turned out to be herpes.
Rihanna has been plagued with rumors that she has herpes.
Greenridge said she’s suing MAC to urge the company to be more sanitary with its products.
Greenridge said the MAC employee instructed her to “press her lips together and spread the lipstick around,” according to the lawsuit.
“(MAC) didn’t use a fresh or new lipstick tube, but rather one that had been used for other patrons,” the suit charges.
“I wasn’t able to work for two weeks. It cost me a lot of money,” Greenidge, a waitress, told the Daily News on Wednesday.
She said she slapped MAC with the suit in Manhattan Supreme Court in hopes of forcing the company to be more sanitary in the future. Greenidge also said the company should train its employees to use disposable tubes or swabs to apply the lipstick.
The RiRi Woo lipstick was inspired by the singer’s favorite MAC red, Ruby Woo lipstick, according to the NY Daily News.
The lipstick sold out within hours of its launch online.
Herpes is a highly contagious, sexually transmitted parasitic virus. There is no known cure.
