Football referee dies after being punched in the face for issuing yellow card

A soccer referee who received a punch in the face after issuing a yellow card has died, police in Taylorsville, Salt Lake City have said.
The referee, 46-year old Richard Portillo had issued a yellow card for an infraction, after which the 17 year old (name withheld) whom the card was awarded to turned around and punched him in the face.
Though he was thought to have sustained just minor injuries, but doctors discovered he had serious mental injuries on getting to the hospital.
After being in critical condition for 7 days, Portillo died Saturday night.
The child, who was originally charged with aggravated assault, will now face new charges.
