REAL MADRID have overtaken Manchester United as the No 1 in football’s rich list.
United had held top spot since business analyst Forbes started compiling their list of most valuable football teams in 2004.
Real are
valued at £2.15billion, with United at £2.07bn. Barcelona are third and
Arsenal fourth, ahead of Bayern Munich in fifth place.
A
Forbes spokesman said: “Real Madrid have been consistently delivering
the highest revenues of any team in the world, despite an intense
economic meltdown in Spain.
“With superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and coach Jose Mourinho they have thrived.
“According
to this year’s valuations, the top 20 teams are worth an average of
£634m — an increase of 26 per cent over last year.”
David Beckham is still the top-earning player at £33m.
Salute Madrid!
