Bobby Brown Released From Jail After 9Hours Due To Jail Overcrowding
Bobby Brown was released from jail after serving just nine hours,
The New Edition singer, 44, who was jailed for his third DUI, checked into the Los Angeles County Jail in the morning, and was apparently released in the evening.
The Daily News previously learned Brown was expected to serve at least eight days in jail.
“The time expected, all things being equal, is about eight days,” Los Angeles County sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the News. “But he could get out in a matter of days and go on electronic monitoring. It’s really tough to say exactly.”
Brown was sentenced last month after pleading no contest to charges he was driving under the influence with a restricted license when police caught up with him last October.
At the time Brown was already on probation for a similar DUI arrest last March.
The R&B singer’s tumultuous past with substance abuse also includes a five-day stint in jail in 1996 for crashing ex-wife Whitney Houston’s Porsche with a blood-alcohol level nearly three times the legal limit, and another jail sentence in 2000 after a court-ordered drug test showed traces of cocaine in his system.
Brown’s latest arrest comes a year after Houston’s death.
