SKYFALL Director, Sam Mendes, Declines Offer To Direct Next Bond Movie

Sam Mendes
With latest James Bond Movie, 2012′s Skyfall, raking in about $1.1 billion worldwide, everyone would naturally expect the director- Sam Mendes to return for the 24th Bond project however that will not be the case as the director has passed on a chance to direct that movie when the time comes.
In an interview Empire, Same explained his reasons for shying away from the project citing commitment to other projects like King Lear; “It has been a very difficult decision not to accept Michael and Barbara’s very generous offer to direct the next Bond movie. Directing Skyfall was one of the best experiences of my professional life, but I have theatre and other commitments, including productions of Charlie And The Chocolate Factory and King Lear, that need my complete focus over the next year and beyond.”
Sam isn’t ruling out the probability of working with people he got involved with while working on Skyfall as he admits “I feel very honoured to have been part of the Bond family and very much hope I have a chance to work with them again sometime in the future”.
With regards to Sam Mendes turning his back on the next Bond project, Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have expressed their thoughts on the matter “We thoroughly enjoyed working with Sam, he directed our most successful Bond movie ever, Skyfall. We would have loved to have made the next film with him but completely respect his decision to focus on other projects and hope to have the opportunity to collaborate with him again.”
With Sam Mendes out of the running, whom would you like to direct the next Bond flick?

Delaware Student Gives Back $1,800 From ATM

Devon-Gluck-kb-130305-wmain-jpg_164813Devon Gluck, 21, knew what he had to do when an ATM gave him $1,800 that didn’t belong to him. It just took a while for him to compose himself to give it back, he said.
Gluck went to a PNC Bank teller machine at the Trabant University Center at the University of Delaware on Feb. 1.
He only wanted to withdraw about $40 but after the ATM made some noise, it gave him $1,800.
“It was such a wild thing,” Gluck said. “It was the craziest thing that has happened to me. I had no idea how to react.”
Despite urging from his friends to keep the money, Gluck, a senior studying finance, said he knew he had to return it. But he called his father the following day for confirmation.
“I called him just to get that reassurance because he’s been a big influence on my life,” Gluck said.
At first, Gluck said his father laughed about the situation, but then became serious.
“I know $1,800 is not something to joke about. It’s not going to go unnoticed,” Gluck said.
Gluck kept the money for 10 days, not the four days Delaware Online first reported. But he did eventually bring it back to the bank where it came from and asked to speak with the branch manager.
“I had to sit on it and compose myself before I walked in with it,” he said.
He said the branch manager was shocked at the amount of money Gluck brought into his office.
Gluck said he realized after the ATM incident that it likely belonged to one of the students who were at the ATM before he arrived to get his money.
“It crossed my mind a day later that it could have been theirs,” Gluck said, which was “eating away” at him.
PNC Bank spokeswoman Marcey Zwiebel confirmed that a student returned $1,800 to the bank and that the student’s account from which the money was mistakenly withdrawn had been refunded.
“I know where the money actually comes from. For me, it made a lot more sense to turn the money back in,” he said.
Last year, a man in Detroit was sentenced to 15 months in prison and was ordered to repay about $1.5 million that he was able to withdraw from ATMs, even though it wasn’t his.
What would you do if an ATM spit out $1,800 that wasn’t yours?

Okikijesu Olawuyi: the baby born without a skull.

The incredible people at Global Initiative for Peace Love and Care (GIPLC) an NGO based in Abuja with a strong bias for orphans and vulnerable children are doing a great job and I wanted to shared something phenomenal they did recently - the case of Okikijesu Olawuyi.

Okiki was born in May 11 2010 without more than half of her skull. A rare medical condition called Congenital Cranial Deficiency.

All of the hospitals visited by their organisation home and abroad could not offer a cure or lacked the facilities and man power except for the John Hopkins hospital in Maryland, Baltimore USA where the director of Paediatrics Dr Ben Carson is the first doctor to handle an issue like this ever, only then it was on a conjoined twins joined at their heads (the Binder twins). Please continue...

When GIPLC became involved in Okiki's case and after due consultations, inquiries and findings as to how much it will cost to have Okiki treated, they were able to raise within the space of 72 hours the sum of $234,000 (two hundred and thirty four thousand USD) or N37,000,000 (thirty seven million naira)and deposited the complete sum to the John Hopkins Medical which was their required deposit to commence the series of surgery on Okiki. She will now leave Nigeria in the company of her parents for the USA by April 2013.

Okiki is not the first child GIPLC has sponsored overseas for Medical attention. They have for a period of six years raised over N120,000,000 (one hundred and twenty million naira) for children with debilitating medical condition. (See it here - www.giplc.org)

Okiki's is special because no NGO in the history of Nigeria has accomplished this feat, to raise the sum of N37,000,000 for a single individual!

GIPLC World Press Conference comes up at Transcop Hilton in Abuja on the 26th of March 2013.

2 Headed Baby With No Eyes Born In Kastina.

baby with two heads-Encephalocele-thenigerianreporter
A baby with two heads has been delivered by a 19 year old girl at the General Hospital, Malumfashi, Katsina State. The baby also has a cleft palate and stunted fingers.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, 19-year-old Zainabu Dahiru gave birth to the baby, which also had no eyes,  on Sunday.
The baby’s father, Malam Dahiru Umar, told NAN on Tuesday that the baby was born through normal delivery.
Umar, a 25-year-old petty trader, said the baby was their first and his wife attended regular ante-natal care during pregnancy.
He said he cried on sighting the baby and sympathetic hospital workers told him that they could not offer any medical assistance beside the delivery.
He said the workers informed him that his wife was in a stable condition and referred the baby to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, near, Zaria.
Umar appealed to government, wealthy individuals and non-governmental organizations for support.
Meanwhile, effort to speak with Medical Director of the General Hospital failed. However, a pediatrician, Dr Ahmad Bala, who spoke to NAN, said the baby needed maximum medical examination to ascertain the nature of the abnormalities.
Bala said the medical examination would include physical checks, X-ray and other diagnoses that would equip a physician to speak properly on the matter at hand and possible remedies.
NAN reported that the new born baby and her mother were still at home.
When shown the photograph of the baby, a gynaecologist at the Garki Hospital, Abuja, Dr Kayode Obende, said the condition was called encephacele -a rare type of neural tube defect (NTD) present at birth that affects the brain. The neural tube is a narrow channel that folds and closes during the third and fouth weeks of pregnancy to form the brain and spinal cord. Encephalocele is described as a sac-like protrusion or projection of the brain and the membranes that cover it through an opening in the skull. Encephalocele happens when the neural tube does not close completely during pregnancy. The result is an opening in the midline of the upper part of the skull, the area between the forehead and nose, or the back of the skull.

RMD denies N50 million fraud, my hands are clean he says.

According to Sahara Reporters, star actor and current Delta State commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Richard Mofe Damijo, is at the centre of an alleged fraudulent transfer of funds which the EFCC is supposedly currently investigating. The report claimed that RMD and the acting GM of the Delta State Tourism Board, Mrs Philo Nkem Ajufo, squandered N50 million belonging to the ministry (Google the story, it's all over the net).

RMD has finally reacted to the allegations, insisting it's not true.

"I won't respond to Sahara Reports. When it's time, I will. And I'm sure you know it's not true" He told Encomium magazine on March 3rd.
RMD and Toolz hosted Iyanya's concert on Saturday and the governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan was in the audience. The most interesting part of this allegation is that EFCC is yet to alert the nation of any fraud in Delta State.

I'm worth at least £20BILLION! Saudi prince blasts Forbes after they said he's 'only worth £13billion'

Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal is threatening to boycott an annual list of the world’s super-rich, after Forbes magazine claimed he was  worth ‘only’ £13billion.
He is unhappy with a ‘flawed’ estimation of his wealth, which left him languishing in 26th place with a mere £13billion.
Prince Alwaleed, the Saudi King Abdullah’s nephew, insists his investments in London’s Savoy Hotel, Apple, Citigroup and News Corp have been undervalued.

According to the prince’s calculations he should have been ranked at number ten with a £19.5billion fortune, right behind L’Oreal heiress Liliane Bettencourt.

Prince Alwaleed has written to the magazine’s editor-in-chief Steve Forbes asking to be removed from the list, saying he will no longer work with their valuation teams.  He has reportedly instructed his lawyers to look into taking legal action.
But he will continue to cooperate with the rival Bloomberg billionaires index, which ranks him as the world’s 16th-richest person with a fortune of £18.5billion.
He alleges that Forbes refused to accept valuations of his company's stocks on Tadawul, the Saudi Arabian stock market, but says that the index takes into account valuations on other emerging markets.

I’m Not Married, The Ring is Part of My Jewellery Collection – Bhaira Mcwizu

Petite Nollywood actress and winner of the third edition of Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) competition, Bhaira Mcwizu is telling whoever cares to listen that she is back and better.
She also wants all those who are in the habit of spreading stories about her being married to stop it so as not to drive her future husband away. But is she pregnant for a man? See what she said below…
I would like to use this very important medium to tell people to stop marrying me off to somebody. I am not married, I beg you. I see the shock on your face. You are surprised. I’m not married. This ring was made by me. It is a part of my jewelry collection. I am not married…. I am happily not married. So that is for real.
I told myself that if they say I am pregnant, if it’s true it will show. If it’s not true it won’t show. Abi dem dey hide pregnancy?
